The studies here are pretty easy as long as you follow what the university tells you to do. I am very happy with my program as we can pick which class and what time you want to take. I have also compared the course to many other universities and I believe we have very good professors as well to teach our subjects.
I applied from India, before the 9/11 attack and the process was very easy. I had to take the Gmat exam for which I had attended classes. I went to a local guy here who teaches for IELTS, TOEFL and such English language tests. I employed the services of Edwise. It was pretty easy to get my tickets, infact it was a just a call to the travel agent. Cosmos Agencies was the name of the travel agent. I flew Air India and it was a pretty nice flight, they did offer a student fare. I landed at JFK airport which is a 40 minute ride from the institution. We were allowed 2 bags, 30kgs per bag though excess baggage was allowed, got to pay for it. There was a meet and greet service offered by the university and they picked us up from the airport. It was bus in which they picked us up. Didnt face immigration issues, it was pretty easy.
There are over 2000 scholarship opportunities.
I am very happy with my program as we can pick which class and what time you want to take. I have also compared the course to many other universities and I believe we have very good professors as well to teach our subjects. As we can pick our professors, I have been lucky and gotten good professors who are very helpful. The lecture halls are very big and accommodates almost 100-150 students. The librarys are very helpful and so are the people working there. To participate in sport you have to get a recommendation.
I am living in a dorm. The university accommodation is very nice you can pick your roommates, so that makes things lot easier. Its pretty easy to get part time jobs, if you have a good advisor and she has to do all the paper work for you. The social life and the night life are pretty good as there are a lot of parties and clubs not too far from the college; there are a lot of house parties. Regarding weather, we experience all the four seasons, so it is good and bad. We dont have an Indian student society in the university, but there are a lot of Indian students there.
There is a placement cell in the university, and its quite easy for Indian students to get jobs; its not too difficult to get a work permit. But we dont have a campus placement. There is an alumni society, its alright, not very very active, I havent heard of it helping with placements.
